Harvest-The Sexy Sticky Side of Wine (part one)

Swirl, Sniff, Sip, Savor, Repeat!  While some may argue this may be the most enjoyable part of the wine experience, I'm not so sure.  Wine education is a BIG part of my job, so this year I've decided to spend more time at the wineries and in the vineyards expanding my wine making knowledge. 

I'm in luck!  Missouri Wine Technical Group president Jacob Holman happens to be the winemaker at my my local winery Les Bourgeois.  In 13 short miles I can be front and center for all the harvest action!  I chronicled my education and am delighted to share it with you in a 4-part series. 

Winemakers are passionate people, and although I work with them every day, even I was amazed at the attention to detail that Jacob takes with the grapes and juice.  Beginning in the vineyard, and through each process he's in touch with what's going on with the grapes and shows them an enormous amount of respect and honors their personality.  I'm looking forward to tasting the results!
