Julie and Julia

Recently I went to see Julie and Julia with my friend Ann. What an enjoyable afternoon for two food and wine lovers such as ourselves. I was reminded of my passion for cooking and it inspired me to begin blogging again. Time, a sense of perfection and subject matter often get in my way.

As I type this I’m enjoying a small dish of plain organic yogurt with a dash of homemade granola. This honey granola is simple, delicious and travels well. The majority of this batch was sent to Alaska along with some made from scratch dog treats. While the granola was golden and crispy, the dog treats didn’t turn out so well. I’m researching just where I went wrong.

Cooking and baking are expressions of oneself. I think that’s what I love about Julia Child, she never apologized for who she was, or less than perfect dishes she prepared. It’s about the process, the time and care one puts into the creation. Julie the writer found the same to be true as she blogged about her experience with Julia’s recipes. Reminding us that life isn’t always perfect, but it can be quite delicious!
