Free Range Cookies

Ok, so the Chickens in the photo really have nothing to do with these delicious treats but they got your attention didn’t they? Last year my BFF Sarah introduced me to a line of cookies that were not only delicious but crafted with the finest ingredients! I believe my first bite was the cranberry oatmeal cookie. My encounter went a little something like this:

Me: Sarah, these cookies are so moist, chewy and yummy!
Sarah: I know, and can you believe they are gluten free?
Me: Get out! No way! Are you kidding? But they taste so good!
Sarah: Yes, I’m serious they are gluten free, wheat free and dairy free - hence the clever name “free range” cookies.
Me: So that’s the name of the cookie?
Sarah: No the company. They sell all over Missouri, you can even find them in Whole foods.
Me: Wow! Unbelievable, these are amazing!

(Insert fast forward time music here) This past Saturday I am rushing around the room of the St. Louis Food and Wine event and I notice a lady setting up a table of cookies, biscotti and breads. She is preparing taste samples and my eye goes to the Chocolate Crinkle cookies, these look tasty! It is a sampling opportunity after all. After taking a closer look, and a nibble, I see that it’s a “Free Range Cookie.”

Oh my goodness! Can this woman possibly be the creator? I ask the kind lady if she is in fact the creator of this miraculous recipe. Indeed she is. I was SO delighted like a kid in a”cookie” store I was meeting the “free range” thinker. We chatted about her products (cookies, breads, biscotti’s and more) the retail outlets she distributes to as well as the Free Range Cookie’s flagship store in Ferguson Missouri. With a twinkle in her eye and broad smile she shares her story. She is quite humble. This woman is amazing and so are her cookies!

If you seek out gluten free products, you’re welcome, I’m glad I could introduce you. And if you simply enjoy a tasty, made from quality ingredients that you can feel good about eating cookie, take one bite and you’ll see why Free Range Cookies are simply delicious!
